Isaiah 40:27-31The Message (MSG)
Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
“God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me”?
Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.
He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.
Dear Woman of God,
There are times in our lives when we grow weary and we experience moments when our faith is weakened. There are times when we doubt God's love for us due to negative circumstances that surround us or due to our struggles. There are times we struggle in silence because we fear condemnation and judgement if we admit that we are having doubts about God or our faith in God because of the struggles we continue to face. There are times when we feel helpless, depleted, defeated and alone. There are times when we feel that we are at our weakest and we look around and it appears that those who are openly less committed than we are appear to reap blessing upon blessing while we struggle and strive to maintain our Christian integrity. It is during these times that we have to look to Jesus (the author and finisher of our faith). We have to reach up and take hold of the promises of God. We have to ask for strength in our weakness. We have to embrace God and accept all that He has to offer. We have to meditate on His Word and know that He is yet faithful!
We must remember that those who wait on God (confidently expect God to move on our behalf) will receive His abundant strength. God never runs out of strength and always has more than enough to give us what we need. This God with limitless strength gives us the strength that we need in every situation--whether we need strength to walk, run or soar!
